Scary Fiction Story Contest(INTL Exp Oct 31st)

Can you write a great ghost Story?

Ends:Monday, October 31, 2009.
Subject of story - Paranormal related or scary, i.e. ghosts, demons, werewolves, vampires, monsters, scary legends/mysteries, UFOs, anything like that. Science fiction and fantasy are also welcome.
Length: 600 to 1200 words, but MUST be at least 450 words.

Number of Entries:Each person may submit as many stories as they like but can only win once.

Restrictions: All entries must be your own original work, written in English, unpublished, written specifically for this contest and published no where else.
Plagiarism, including the use of third-party song lyrics, and characters without written permission will result in disqualification. No foul language or profanity.
Winners must provide valid contact information to receive payment.
Prizes will be paid by PayPal (Anywhere) or postal money order (to US address only).

Timmons Song writing Contest Ends July 31

Timmins 100th Anniversary Song Contest Ends July 31

Q92 in conjunction with the City of Timmins' 100th Anniversary Committee are looking for a song to celebrate the anniversary. The song needs to be original, reflect the heritage of the area and be no more than four minutes long. The top four entries will be chosen and then voted on by the citizens of Timmins. The winning song will be included on a 100th Anniversary Compilation CD. To submit your entry, send your mp3 to this email address with the subject line "100th Anniversary".

Ends: 11:59pm on July 31, 2009  No purchase necessary.  Only one (1) entry per person.

$1,000 to $25,000 Lyric Poetry Prizes

Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prizes for 2009

These prizes have been established by Marvin Rosenberg in memory of his late wife, Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg. The intent is to encourage the work of new, young poets. Several prizes varying from $1,000 up to as much as $25,000 will be awarded for the finest lyric poems celebrating the spirit of life.

The competition is open to any writer under the age of 40 on November 6, 2009. All poets, published or unpublished, are welcome to enter, but only previously unpublished poems are eligible for the competition.

Each entrant may submit one to three original, previously unpublished,separate poems  in English. Poems should express the personal experience of the entrant, so please no translations! Brevity will be appreciated: if more than one poem is submitted, only one of the submitted poems may be more than thirty lines in length.

Entries must be received no later than October 17, the third Saturday in October, 2009. Entries should be submitted by mail to:

Each poem must be printed on a separate sheet. Please submit two copies of each poem, with your name and address clearly marked on each page of one copy only. Please include an index card with your name and address, phone number, e-mail address and the title(s) of your poem(s). Poems submitted will not be returned. An entry fee of 10 dollars is required for submissions mailed in the United States: Checks should please be made out to Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Memorial Fund. Foreign entries are exempted from the entry fee because of the hassles of international payments.

The website ( www.DorothyPrizes.org ) has been prepared to share information about the Competition. Dorothy’s poems inspired the competition's emphasis on lyric poems celebrating the spirit of life. Further information concerning the Prizes may be posted here as the deadline approaches. Results will be announced on the website February 5th, 2010, and winners will be contacted shortly before that time.
